Herengracht 170-172 Bartolottihuis Year of construction: 1619 Architects: Hendrick and Pieter de Keyser Style: baroque Amsterdam Renaissance style The rich Amsterdam merchant Willem van den Heuvel tot Beichlingen received a large inheritance from his uncle Giovanni Bartolotti. Willem changed his name into GulielmoBartolotti and built this city palace. It has a bowed front, looking out on ‘the small bend’ of the Herengracht. The front is richly decorated. The interior was  reconstructed in 1995. This rich merchant house now houses the Vereniging Hendrick de Keyser. Possibly in the 17th century people looked at this house as we look at Wall Street: as a symbol of capitalism.
