Mill De Gooyer
Period of construction: 16th century
Mill De Gooyer has been moved several times, like a lot of mills in Amsterdam. They were placed on the town walls in order to catch a maximum of wind, and they were moved together with the walls during extension of the town. De Gooyer arrived at its current location in 1814. Two years previously, a water mill was pulled down for his purpose. Currently the mill houses the brewery ’t IJ. After so many moves the mill is ready for a trip to China.
